Sonde I

Représente la suite naturelle de mon travail sur le rapport entre l'espace, le mouvement et le son entrepris depuis septembre 2015 avec la compagnie de cirque contemporain Tanmis. La contrebasse est allongée au sol et sa table harmonique devient une caisse de résonance pour une série d'objets en lien avec ses fréquences. Ainsi, des couches de sons d'intensité et de clarté différentes, comme dans le feuillage d'un arbre, entrent en relation avec les corps et l'espace. Le rapport au public allongé au sol, la proximité des corps, la volonté de faire de cette pièce un massage sonore constituent encore un terrain d'exploration. En ce sens, j'aimerais que l'écoute de la pièce soit liée à l'idée de la terre. Sonder, descendre, creuser.


Represents the natural continuation of my work on the relationship between space, movement and sound undertaken since September 2015 with the contemporary circus company Tanmis. The bass is lying on the ground and its harmonic table becomes a sound box for a series of objects related to its frequencies. Thus, layers of sounds of different intensity and clarity, as in the foliage of a tree, relate to bodies and space. The relationship with the audience lying on the ground, the proximity of the bodies, the desire to make this piece a sound massage are still a field of exploration. In this sense, I would like listening of this piece to be linked to the idea of the earth. To probe, to go down, to dig.

Sonde II

Reflète l'expérience de mon premier travail en solo, Della notte (mutazioni continue), composé en 2011 pour être joué sous un arbre de la campagne vénitienne à la tombée de la nuit. Je commençais alors à voir la contrebasse comme un orchestre de sons et de bruits, une vision qui, depuis, accompagne ma recherche. En 2014, en résidence dans un château au bord de l'Essonne, j'ai pu affiner une technique à deux archets qui me permettait de jouer différentes voix à la fois, et qui deviendra l'idée première de Sonde II.

J'aime présenter cette pièce comme l'idée de se perdre dans un nuage. Le son naturel de la contrebasse, enveloppant et chaleureux, côtoie le son transformé, rugueux, détruit.


Reflects the experience of my first solo work, Della notte (mutazioni continue), composed in 2011 to be played under a tree in the Venetian countryside at dusk. I started then to see the double bass as an orchestra of sounds and noises, a vision that has since accompanied my research. In 2014, during residency in a castle on the banks of the Essonne, I was able to refine a technique with two bows that allowed me to play different voices at once, and which will become the first idea of Sonde II.

I like to present this piece as the idea of getting lost in a cloud. The natural sound of the double bass, enveloping and warm, rubs the transformed sound, rough, destroyed

    Informations sur la face J-Kristoff Camps

    Chaque morceau est composé principalement d’échantillons prélevés dans le « morceau miroir » du duo Vortex. Ainsi le morceau 1 est composé à partir de sons du 1, le 2 du 2, etc.
    Le numéro a aussi déterminé le nombre de temps de la mesure.
    Ce remix prend donc la forme d’une « Suite de danses ».

    Ces échantillons (samples) sont souvent prélevés selon la technique du « Blow–Up », procédé d’observation qui permet d’aller chercher dans le flux sonore un petit détail.
    J’ai néanmoins ajouté quelques sons personnels : Mochitsuki à Nara, gare de Kyoto, ma bouilloire, une pendule, train à vapeur, youyous de rassemblement contestataire et festif, guitare, Marc Siffert - basse (5), carillon Westminster de monsieur Hyk, clavier casio SK-1.
    Et des textes issus de Procès-Verbaux de police (2, 3, 5), ainsi que du Comité invisible (La fabrique éditions) (6).

    Cette face est dédiée à tous les opposants actifs aux lois visant à ficher toujours plus les humains.

    Informations on J-Kristoff Camps side

    Each track is composed, mainly out of samples from Vortex duo’s "mirror track". For instance, track #1 is built with sounds from Vortex duo’s track #1, so with the #2s, and so on.
    The numbering also determined the time signature, so this remix is shaped as a "dances suites".

    These samples are extracted using the "Blow up" technique (i.e. screening process allowing to look for small details within the flow of sounds).
    Nevertheless, I added a few personal sounds: Mocchitsuki in Nara, the Kyoto station, my kettle, a clock, a steam train, ululating from a protest and festive rally, a guitar, Marc Siffert - bass (5), Mr Hyk’s Westminster chime clock and a Casio SK-1 keyboard.
    And extracts from Police court case Minutes (2, 3, 5) and from the Invisible Committee (Editions “La fabrique”) (6).

    This side is dedicated to all active opponents to laws willing to file humans more.
